DESCRIPTION:Packed with stunning original signs\, neons\, gas station equipment\, F&B memorabilia\, and more\, Morphy’s October 6\, 2024 sale should prove to be a terrific event. When I first saw the catalogue\, I was slack-jawed by so many exceedingly rare and unique items on offer – items like a pig sandwich neon sign\, which has an astonishing Texas backstory that paved the way for the likes of McDonald’s; then there’s the Texas Pacific Gasoline and Motor Oil porcelain sign – simply put\, I’ve never seen one. I’d heard of TexPac\, but never have seen a sign; a 1940s Glo-Dial neon clock from Los Angeles reading “Garage Towing” has caught my fancy in a big way; and\, of course\, among the seemingly millions of other amazing items\, there’s a great double-sided porcelain “Fiat Service” sign that’s screaming to come home with me. Years ago\, driving past an antique shop in the middle of the night\, they had a similar sign on display\, but it was in Italian. I called on it the next day\, the price was nearly $600\, if I remember correctly\, way out of my league\, I didn’t need it that badly. I do wish I’d bit the bullet and bought it\, forcing us to live on ramen for a few months. It was a neat sign that the guy on the phone said was an original from the 1950s\, but he knew nothing of how it got to SoCal. And now there’s this one. Take a peek\, see what catches your fancy. Register to bid\, you can begin online. You know\, going through these catalogues reminds me of being a kid thumbing through the Sears Christmas catalogue. Hey – y’know – the holidays are coming… good excuse to go shopping\, right? See ya there. \nFeatured Lots Lot 1136 - Rare Texas Pacific Gasoline & Motor Oils Porcelain Sign w/ Teepee GraphicThis sign is set in the original metal ring which has been painted red. Based in Fort Worth\, Texas\, this sign hails from the 1930s and shows excellently overall. Measures 42" in diameter.   Lot 1495 - Outstanding & Iconic Musgo Gasoline One-Piece Baked Globe w/ Native American GraphicA one-piece baked globe dated September 17\, 1929\, with "Made In USA" ink stamping\, and the outer collar\, this rare and iconic Musgo Gasoline globe presents outstandingly well. DESCRIPTION:Drive Toward a Cure will be popping into Lime Rock Park in Connecticut on Thursday October 10 to help the Motorsport Hall of Fame celebrate inductee Sam Posey. \nSam Posey needs no introductions – his work in motorsports is legendary\, he’s set records aplenty and raced with the best of them being one of the best himself.  In his post driving years\, he worked as a racing commentator and journalist.  Some don’t know that he’s also a talented painter and architect – he actually earned a BFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design.  He’s also authored a few books.  In a way\, he’s a modern renaissance man.  In 1995\, he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease\, but continues to inspire with enthusiastic charm and a driven desire to soldier on\, to accomplish and to achieve.  Lime Rock Park will honor him and celebrate him on October 10\, and our friends at Drive Toward a Cure will be routing their Tour that way to partake in the celebration.  Learn more about it all here

SUMMARY:One Lapp of Ohio RallyTour
DESCRIPTION:The One Lapp of Ohio RallyTour begins and ends at the beautiful Salt Fork Lodge in Cambridge\, OH. The tour features over 250 miles of the most beautiful roads in Southeastern Ohio and continues the terrific camaraderie that has made this event so popular for over two decades. The tour is a casual time-speed-distance road rally. Check out the route from last year’s event. \n \nNo prior rally experience is required! If you have never participated in a rally before you will learn everything you need to know at the Friday night reception. Each rally team consists of a pilot and navigator\, roles which can be alternated. Whether you are looking for some friendly competition or just a spirited drive on some great roads this is the event for you! \n \nRegistration is $245 before August 31st and increases to $295 after that so sign up early. Registration includes a pizza dinner on Friday\, breakfast on Saturday\, a boxed lunch for Saturday\, and dinner on Saturday night. Also included is a Sunday morning brunch during the awards presentation. \nRooms can be reserved at the Salt Fork State Park Lodge in the Audi Club block by calling (740) 435-9000. \nPlease contact jeff.lapp@sbcglobal.net with any questions.
