SUMMARY:Rockabilly Auction
DESCRIPTION:Located in Georgia\, the Rockabilly Auction Company has been around for a number of years\, and has established a reputation for offering rare and unique pieces that generally spice up any collection.  Coming up April 5 and 6\, they’ll be hosting their April Advertising Auction with some tremendously unique pieces largely from from the gas and oil\, and food and beverage industries\, with other unique items sprinkled in.  Expect to see not only signage and banner pieces\, but also portable Coca-Cola coolers\, thermometers\, and railroad lanterns among other items.  Take a look below at a few of the highlights of the sale and pop over to their catalogue to see everything else.  Thanks for stopping by\, I hope to see you there! \nFeatured Lots Lot 159 - 42” Single Sided Porcelain Texaco SignRepainted\, this SSP sign features a new ring\, shows scratches in the field\, and is slightly warped. First seen in 1903\, it was a 19-year-old Italian refinery worker who suggested using the Texas 5-point star as the Texaco logo. He is the one who added the green “T” within the star.  Lot 177 - Double Sided Porcelain Pan-Am Gasoline Sign on Iron StandA 30-inch diameter DSP sign advertising the Pan Am Gasoline brand on a 54-tall iron stand\, multiple chips and cracks are evident on each side that have been touched up. One side has light surface rust and staining. The Pan American Petroleum and Transport Company was founded by Edward Doheny in 1916 as the holding company for a multitude of other companies he owned. At one point\, it was the largest petroleum company in the United States and was merged with Standard of Indiana to create the American Oil Company\, or Amoco.  Lot 615 - 18” Metal Pepsi Cola Embossed SignShowing excellent color and gloss with a few light scuffs in the field and perimeter\, the surface also shows minor manufacturing imperfections. Measuring 18-inches\, this metal Pepsi Cola sign is embossed and depicts a bottle cap. Makers mark RA-58 Made in USA. During the earliest part of the 20th Century\, soda companies largely dominated the landscape with their advertising\, encouraging travelers and locals to enjoy a bottle of refreshing pop. Pepsi was one of the most prolific marketers of the era.  Lot 616 - 19” Metal Orange Crush Embossed SignMeasuring 19-inches\, this metal embossed bottle cap sign shows bright colors and good gloss\, exhibiting only edge wear\, light scratches\, and light stains in the field. With the popping orange graphic on a slightly off-white background\, the embossed Orange Crush bottle cap sign is a fun addition to any room and collection.  Lot 642 - 8’ Bob’s Big Boy StatueThis large-scale Big Boy statue presents in excellent\, like new condition with great color. Crafted of fiberglass\, the high gloss and exceptional color registration combine with an imposing 8-foot tall stature to create a wonderful presence. Founded in 1936 in Glendale\, California by Bob Wian as Bob’s Pantry\, the restaurant became famous for the double-decker hamburger\, which was created as a joke for customers who wanted “something different.” Jokingly called the Big Boy Burger\, it became known as Bob’s Big Boy\, thus renaming the restaurant.  Lot 702 - Standard Oil Double-Sided Porcelain Neon Measuring 42-inches x 108-inches x 16-inches\, this multi-piece DSPN embossed Standard Oil station sign shows good color with functioning neon. Both sides of the sign and bullnose portions have been repainted with areas of chips and age-related wear. With an iconic look\, this sign displays very well.  Lot 721 - Chevrolet Super Service Double-Sided Porcelain SignExhibiting exceptional patina in the form of fading\, staining\, scuffing\, rusting\, and porcelain loss at the mounting holes\, this 49-inch x 41.75-inch DSP Chevrolet Super Service sign will bring a level of experienced charm to any space. Beginning in the 1930s\, Chevrolet dealerships promoted “Super Service” as a way of indicating professional\, knowledgeable mechanics trained by Chevrolet. By the mid-1960s\, the Super Service promotion had faded out lending a roughly 30 year run.  Lot 763 - Large Fisk Tires Statue and TireMeasuring 78-inches x 54-inches x 20-inches\, this fiberglass Fisk Boy and Tire statue presents overall in good condition. The boy displays well\, but is missing his right hand and shows general age and wear. The light works as it should and the tire is in good condition. Showing great eye appeal and presence\, it will be a great addition to any collection. Fisk Tire Company has long been known for its advertising slogan of\, “It’s Time to Re-Tire\,” with an illustration of a young boy dressed in pajamas with a tire and candle. Burr Giffen first illustrated the boy in 1910 with Paul Martin redesigning the boy in 1930. >> VIEW ALL GSM AUCTION LISTINGS
