Book Review: Road Racing – Drivers of the 60’s and 70’s by Linda Weldon

It’s been said a million times that a photograph is a moment of time, frozen in an image.  Romantically put, but very true, and Linda Weldon’s immense library of pictures from the racetracks during the 1960s and ’70s really drives home the point of that concept.  Many, many moments frozen in images.  Take a trip with Linda and revisit the SCCA Can Am, Trans Am and Formula 5000 series.  Hang out with legends like Mario Andretti, Carroll Shelby, Jo Bonnier, Peter Revson, Roger Penske, Stirling Moss, Derek Bell and many more in their earlier days.  The pictures are mostly candid, seemingly personal, and Linda has an eye that truly puts you right there in the picture, she captures the emotions of the people, you can hear the engines screaming, you can smell the gas.  It’s rare that a book like this comes along, and when it does, any motoring enthusiast needs to snap one up for themselves.  Buy | Road Racing
