Located along the California Coast is a wonderful idea on how to handle an industrial office space. Interestingly, the flooring has been set up to delineate specific areas of interest – the cars sit on traditional black-and-white tiles, while a pool table and movie theater couch rests on a hardwood looking floor, while a motorcycle area is fitted with ceramic tiles. It’s a neat way to divvy up the space and give the sections their individual personalities.

A checkerboard tile floor underscores the main area of Mark’s garage, while two 4-post lifts in the corner ensure extra spaces. A custom shelf system was built to display Mark’s extensive racing helmet collection, as well as some beverage choices. All around are sign and display art.
Looking out across the bar top, which is a display of various visually interesting items, the openness of the garage is spectacular. Movie theater seating, a pool table, and an extensive amount of odds-and-ends create spectacular eye candy.
Looking over the pool table back to the bar-kitchen area, Mark’s interest in motorcycles and motorsports, and an enjoying a good flick is evidenced. Notice the various flooring surfaces and the office through the doorway on the left.
At the back wall adjacent the pool table, a custom shelf system was built to accommodate various reading materials, trophies, and a smorgasbord of collectibles. We all have something to display.
The hanging door is from a racing Porsche 911 and adds a unique visual pop, but when it begins swinging from wind or anything, it can be a little scary. Mark wants to better secure it, but it is a neat touch. The industrial look is softened by the white paint and homey décor balancing it out.
The seating area offers individual cup holders while facing the television, which Mark says is great for having a couple of friends over to watch racing. The racing tire occasional table and western saddle are great conversation pieces. The Porsche sign is a backlit unit.
It’s interesting to note how many seating areas Mark has incorporated in this space. Entertaining as much as he does, it works out perfectly, providing not only seating for guests, but gathering areas – people can be as close to or as far away from whatever action is going on. Again, notice the use of multiple flooring surfaces.

Being California coastal real estate, the space isn’t cheap, which encouraged the owner, Mark, to keep things on the smaller scale and get more from less. He’s done very well with it. Two lifts create two more spaces where a well-known hot rod and three Porsche 911s reside. A major fan of racing, Mark has tastefully built a wall display for helmets while all around are other hints to the sport, such as old tires stacked up and various racing brand signs on the wall. A big screen TV and specialized seating provides a movie theater experience, while a bar and pool table allow for games and
libations. There is overhead storage and an office. All things considered, it’s as efficient as they come – to see more, click here.
