Car Guy Heaven

Car Guy Heaven

Once again, Mecum Auctions is ringing in the New Year in Kissimmee, Florida with a truly mind-boggling array of vehicles and memorabilia, or what they like to call Road Art. Every year seems to get better and certainly bigger. One of the things I love most about the Kissimmee auction is that it’s in Kissimmee – the weather is next to impossible to beat in January and Mecum makes sure the event is more than just car-guy heaven – it’s packed with family-friendly activities and things to do, and if that’s not enough, Kissimmee and the surrounds aim to please with more options than you can shake a stick at.

The Road Art this year is spectacular and there’s lots and lots of it to choose from. Some interesting pieces are highlighted below, take a look – register to bid, or if you just want to stop by and enjoy, buy your tickets early – you’ll save 25%. If you can make it to Kissimmee, I highly strongly decidedly recommend you do. You won’t regret it. Thanks for stopping by!

HotRod Collection: This collection is an absolutely stunning – stunning – array of items ranging from art to gas and oil to die cast – there’s even a Shelby bicycle. A very cool piece many collectors love is the original “OK” used car sign.
The Medeiros Collection: Another spectacular amassment of amazement is The Medeiros Collection, with a wide array of rare signs, many hailing from Canada. The collection features a number of very cool neons as well, such as this original Kaiser Frazer sign.
The Lisa Darnaby Collection: This collection is packed with very unique items from the food and beverage, gas and oil, and original equipment manufacturers, but it’s also heavy with coin op items including a slot machine and a Gypsy Coin-Op Fortune Telling Machine. One of the crown jewels though must be Lot V545, a single-sided animated porcelain neon Pegasus.
From the Fleming Williams Collection: Bidders can choose from a number of very cool, very colorful signs, including some odd rarities such as the Chevy LUV lighted sign – who remembers the LUV? The Merita Bread sign is cool with its illustration of what appears to be The Lone Ranger and his horse, Silver, and a very cool double-sided porcelain neon Rich Oil sign. One thing we love about this sign is that it’s mounted on a stand, making it very easy to place on a table or bench.
