Harrisburg Afoot

Mecum’s Harrisburg, Pennsylvania sale is always a fun event, and this year shows a lot of great vehicles and a sweet smattering of what Mecum calls Road Art, or as we more commonly know it, automobilia and petroliana. With 1,200 vehicles crossing the block, the sale begins July 24 and ends on the 27th at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. That said, check out some of the collections coming up on offer, starting with the Rusted Restoration Collection listed below, which includes some amazing pieces, one of my favorites being this set of metal Shell Service Station Rocker Chairs. Swing on over to Mecum On Time and enjoy some bidding online – it’s simple and relatively stress free, and there are scads of amazing things to bid on, from the obscure to the hard to find to the cool beans. In fact, there is a four-part Shelby Collection for sale up there right now. Check it out, and register to bid for Harrisburg! See ya there!

Gates open daily, with Road Art lots kicking off the daily live auction extravaganza at 9 a.m. before vehicles start crossing the block. Leading the charge in Harrisburg, Road Art from the Rusted Restoration Collection is set to cross the auction block at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 27. Highlights from the collection include a wonderfully restored Buffalo Bennett Model 766 Gas Pump from the 1940s-’50s and a restored Hershey’s Ice Cream Double-Sided Embossed Porcelain Sign, one of three separate lots to wear the iconic chocolate brand’s livery. With several lubesters, Shell station rocker chairs, a 1940s popcorn warmer and more, the collection has plenty on tap to get folks revved up in Harrisburg. However, it’s worth noting that it’s only a small slice of the Rusted Restoration Collection pie, as enthusiasts should keep an eye out for a much larger selection in Kissimmee this coming January.
