Letter from the Editor: A Garage’s Best Friend

Letter from the Editor: A Garage’s Best Friend

I’ve said it thousands of times. A garage’s best friend is a shed. A lot of people laugh when they hear the sentiment, but then they think about it, and sure enough they think it’s true. Afterall, a shed allows a garage to be kept organized and clean by diverting gardening, pool, and maintenance equipment to another place. A shed also absorbs most of the holiday décor and sporting goods like bikes, allowing the garage to be kept somewhat clutter free. We’ve all seen the garages with the rows of ‘stuff’ between the spaces – while it gets the job done, I’m not sure we want our garages to look like that.

So, shed city it is!

I’m excited because, as you know having been reading this column, my family and I recently bought a home in Texas. Organizing all of the stuff has been an ordeal for sure, but it’s been fun. Finding old treasures that have been stored away for years, unearthing the diecast toys and other amazing things that haven’t seen the light of day for decades has been a true hoot. That said, we have a lot of Christmas and Halloween décor. Initially, Mrs. Weberg thought it would end up in the garage, and then she remembered who she was married to. So, we bought a shed. I’m so excited to be following my own advice, it’s silly. At any rate, the shed was custom sized and designed and built to our specifications, fitting perfectly in a slip of space between our house and the property line. Putting the shelves up soon and moving all the décor to the shed will be great, organizing all the pieces, clearing up the house and garage, and opening the doors a little wider to get my garage going.

Stay tuned!!
