When I lived in Southern California, an annual trek and treat was the Mecum Motorcycle Auction in Las Vegas. I’m not a motorcycle fanatic, but appreciate their styling and portability – I can’t tell you how many collectors I’ve known who collected motorcycles because they could buy more of them as they were less expensive and occupied less space. Celebrities too often love motorcycles because when they dawn their helmet, they are just one of the many motorists cruising along the road. No one knows who they are, it’s total anonymity. I don’t like riding them, they terrify me, but I love looking at them. In fact, it’s crossed my mind more than a few times to acquire a bike or two to use as décor – no, the houses I’ve lived in were never quite big enough for that kind of display, but I can dream.
