Mecum Auctions is a very hard company to keep up with, but if nothing else, they’re consistent. Their Nashville auction is coming up September 23-26 and already has six full collections consigned, including a car collection and memorabilia collection from Roush. Yes, that Roush. Mecum Auctions has a number of events going on each year, most of which are rife with Road Art. Coming up at the Monterey sale in August is a darling kid’s Ferrari Testarossa from Agostini. The most expensive toy of the year, it’s hyper rare and an absolute must have for any Ferrari collector. The Nashville sale scheduled for September has some wonderful pieces coming on offer, one of which is truly inspiring, a high-performance crate Gen III Dodge Viper engine. While the offerings are extensive, Mecum is always looking to help people find new caretakers for their cars, bikes, trucks, and collectibles. In September, Mecum Auctions will host a sale at the Nashville Superspeedway. Along with about 1,200 vehicles, an ocean of Road Art will also be on offer, including several pieces from the Roush collection. Lot Z444 is an interesting item, it’s the front end of Greg Biffle’s NASCAR Ford Taurus. Biffle won both the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the Busch Series. Another unique find is Lot Z446, a Mark Martin Valvoline #6 Roush Racing Go-Kart. The mini stockcar is powered by a Briggs & Stratton 3.5 HP engine and uses a fiberglass body. Lot Z435 is a cool piece, a Family Channel Racing crew suit by Simpson Race Products that’s been signed by Ted Musgrave. Another great piece is Lot Z428, a desktop computer in the form of a DeWalt No. 17 racecar. Mounted on a steel base, he car is signed by Matt Kenseth. Mecum On Time Continues to Grow
While we all love attending the events Mecum Auctions assembles, there is something fabulous about online shopping. Mecum On Time brings the auction action to you anywhere you can get an internet connection.
This past year, it’s been interesting to watch Mecum On Time gain traction and awareness on a global scale, selling hundreds of items to international bidders. A couple favorite items are brass-colored Motorcycle Book Ends and a poster depicting the 1982 Chevrolet Corvette in two-tone paint and Collector Edition. This is likely a dealership promotional poster used to advertise the limited production Collector Edition Corvette, but also celebrate Option D84, two-tone paint option made available for the 1981 model year, when Corvette production moved from Saint Louis, Missouri to Bowling Green, Kentucky. Meanwhile, the motorcycle bookends are just flat-out cool.
