In the pages and through this digital portal of Garage Style Magazine, I’ve published a lot of garages and collections. Some are more fabulous than others, but all of them have one thing in common – time. Every garagista I’ve ever met, for the most part, has enjoyed just spending time in their garage, among their collectibles and cars. I’ve long said, when I used to freelance for car magazines, it was interesting asking someone if we could feature their car – responses varied from, “Sure, whatever,” to “Absolutely, that’d be fun.” Very rarely was the response much more than that. But when I launched GSM and began asking people if I could photograph their garages, the responses were normally very excited. I figured it out, in the first scenario, I was asking to shoot something someone else built; in the second scenario, I was asking to showcase someone’s slice of the world. Ever been to a 6-year-old’s house? “Wanna see my room?” It’s a common question – that’s their little slice of the world, and they’re excited to show it to you. Same thing here.
So, as time marches on, and we’re sailing through February, I am in hopes you are enjoying time in the garage, alone or with friends and family. Or, as Spring begins to show itself in the not-so-distant future, maybe it’s time to get ready. Clean things up a bit, service the garage doors, maybe layout that floor you’ve been thinking about. Time is, after all, limited and waits for no one. Enjoy every minute.
Thanks for stopping by!
