The 72nd Annual Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance featured 216 of the most exciting, rare, and eye-catching cars ever seen, hailing from 18 countries and 30 states.
Set on the 18th fairway at the Pebble Beach Links, the Concours offers a stunning backdrop for some of the world’s most interesting cars.
Crowds come from all corners of the globe to cheer for their favorites. In tandem with the competition between extraordinary historic automobiles, the concours also serves as host to some of the most anticipated concepts and new car debuts.
More than just a show, the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance offers a number of forums for guests to listen to esteemed speakers, a Tour d’Elegance around Pebble Beach’s 17-Mile Drive, RetroAuto, and a cacophony of other diversions such as food vendors and merchants, and manufacturers and displays and the Gooding & Company auction, all comprised to create one of the world’s preeminent automotive experiences.
This year, the coveted Best of Show Award went to Garage Style Magazine alum Jim Patterson’s 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster, one of just three similarly-equipped 540Ks in the world today. This one was originally owned by the Shah of Afghanistan. Patterson has now won three Pebble Beach Best of Show Awards, and this win puts Mercedes-Benz in the lead with more Best of Show Awards than any other marque, with 10 wins total.
The Pebble Beach Concours raised more than $2.8 million for charity this year, bringing total event donations to over $37 million to date.
Meanwhile, Gooding & Company rounded up a gross total of $92 million in sales, with the most expensive car being the 1962 Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, which sold for over $9 million.
