As Summer unfolds, I’m having a good time continuing the set up and organization of my new garage. Yes, I’ve been in this house for about three years now, but as most of you who’ve moved know, it can take some time. Especially when sifting through literally thousands of things that have been in boxes in storage for decades. It’s fun but also daunting. But it’s also been nostalgic as can be. Recently, my mom and sister visited, my sister’s first time here. She remarked it was like a tour of the house we grew up in because I have many of the relics from that house. And she’s right – it’s chock full of old things we grew up with. From a 1940s radio-phonograph that I allegedly broke simply by crawling behind it as a baby to a license plate topper for the volunteer fire department from my dad’s hometown of Caliente, Nevada to a piece of wood that sits near our fireplace to so much more. It all brings back fun memories and a kind of continuum to those family pieces. The garage has been made easier to work in, thanks to my wife buying us a mini split and a friend installing it for us. Now, where there used to be a warm, stuffy 3-car box is a cool, refreshing 3-car box that actually makes the garage inviting to work or just hang out in. Granted, my garage isn’t too ‘hang out’ friendly at the moment – but we’re getting there. More on this later – in the meantime, enjoy this edition of the newsletter. Zymol is lending advice and Drive Toward a Cure has a fun way to enjoy the summer and we spend some time with a real phillumenist. Very cool stuff.
