Cars and Collectibles – Don’t We Love Them!

Richmond Auctions is bringing The Tony Townley Collection to market with over 100 outstanding collector cars and more than 400 very unique pieces of memorabilia. With something for everyone, from cars to memorabilia, I’m very excited about this sale, if for no other reason than it shows how far Richmond has come in a few years. Their growth has been positive on top of positive, and their work has given the community a whole new venue to buy and sell items or entire collections. Very cool indeed. I’ll be bidding on a few pieces, but no cars, unfortunately – no more space. But I always have space for what Michele calls “stuff.” Take a peek, hope to see you there!

Lot 617 - - 1969 Dodge Charger DaytonaLot 617 - 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona

Showing just 3,700 miles on the odometer, this Charger Daytona was previously owned by the Malcom family and shown at events all around the country. Exceedingly original and unrestored, the car is fitted with a 440 CI V-8 engine, 727 automatic transmission, and a Dana 60 rear end. - LEARN MORE!

Lot 557 - - 1965 Shelby GT350Lot 557 - 1965 Shelby GT350

It’s long been a fun mystery as to how the Mustang GT350 came to be. Did Lee Iacocca call Carroll Shelby, or did Carroll call Iacocca? In the long run, maybe it doesn’t really matter, because a performance legend was created. By the end of the 1965 model year, just 562 GT350s were completed, significantly less than the 2,378 that were made for 1966. This one is #257. Sold new by Galpin Ford in Los Angeles, California, the car spent its life in the Golden State and is somewhat of a rarity on top of a rarity, for not only is it a 1965, but it rides on steel wheels and was built without the Le Mans stripes. - LEARN MORE!

Lot 470 - - 1954 Dodge Power WagonLot 470 - 1954 Dodge Power Wagon

A rare crew cab model, this Dodge Power Wagon was originally built by Armbruster & Company in Fort Smith, Arkansas. The subject of an extensive, frame-up restoration, it is powered by the 230 CI inline 6-cylinder engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. This vehicle is well documented. - LEARN MORE!

Lot 504 - - Chevrolet Corvette FuelieLot 504 - Chevrolet Corvette Fuelie

Bent on dominating in performance motoring, Chevrolet turned to mechanical fuel injection for 1957 to build power and bolster efficiency. Opting for fuel injection made the all-new 283 CI V-8 good for 283 HP, or one-horsepower-per-cubic-inch, a huge milestone back in the day. More than the fuelie unit though, it was the internal enhancements that made the 283 such a spectacular piece of engineering, proving Chevrolet was absolutely committed to producing cutting-edge performance cars. - LEARN MORE!

Lot 509 - - 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl PhaetonLot 509 - 1929 Duesenberg Model J Dual Cowl Phaeton

While any Duesenberg is important, this one gushes history, largely from California. One of two built as such, it enjoyed serving many interesting owners before being relegated to a wrecking yard in 1948. Saved from that fate, the car enjoyed a very interesting life since, including starring in a movie with Elvis Presley. - LEARN MORE!
