Kissimmee and Mecum On Time

Kissimmee and Mecum On Time

At least put it on your calendar – while it seems so far away, it will be here before you know it.  So, make your plans – Mecum Kissimmee 2027 is their flagship event of the year, and where better to spend a part of January than Kissimmee, Florida.  The sun is out, the wind dances through the palm trees, the Technicolor blue sky is dotted with puffy white clouds and – truly, it’s paradise.  And, when you’re looking for things to do with the family away from the auction, it’s effortless – the options are seemingly endless, including Disneyworld and Epcot Center.  But, Mecum has activities for the family as well, so fear not.  You’ll have a ball, but only if you plan early – you know that as well as I do.

One reason I push for Kissimmee is, as lightly stated above, it’s tough to beat Kissimmee in January, but two, especially this year, The Brian Lang Collection is coming on offer at Kissimmee.  This is a remarkable collection with over 400 absolutely stunning pieces on offer.  If you love collecting, and who doesn’t, this is a fabulous place to snap up a few great, blue-chip pieces.  There are far too many favorites to pick just one or even two, but we are partial to the hooded porcelain signs simply because they are so seldom seen.

For a little auction action prior to Kissimmee, check out Mecum On Time.  A number of sales are currently going on, but of particular interest might be the Roush Automotive Collection, Vol. 1.  Comprised of pieces from Jack Roush’s private reserve, you can bid on racing suits, racecar hoods, special collectibles, and much more.  One very cool piece is off the beaten path, a Packard Merlin V-1650 engine cylinder head table lamp.  The cylinder head hails from a P-51 Mustang airplane and has been beautifully repurposed into a lamp.  One of a kind, for sure.  Check it out here.
