Who remembers the old advertising slogan of Mecum? “Mecum – Muscle Cars and More.” It used to be, if you wanted a muscle car, Mecum was the go-to auction to find it. But, in more recent years, the “and More” part of the slogan has broadened. Mecum has been trusted to sell a variety of exotic cars, slowly building credibility in the field, and apparently, they’ve arrived. This past year alone, particularly with the handling of the Bachman Ferrari Collection, the Bianco Speciale 1962 Ferrari 250 GTO, and one-of-one Porsche 918 Spyder at their Kissimmee, Florida sale in January, Mecum has seemingly become the go-to spot for exotic cars.

In fact, the website is currently promoting a swath of exotics coming to Kissimmee this year, including Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesses and a Rimac Nevera. Their upcoming sale in Nashville sustains the notion with a sweet roster of exotics, including an Aston Martin Valhalla, multiple Rolls-Royces, a Ferrari 488 Pista, a Ferrari 812 Competizione Aperta, a Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder and many more. Another area where Mecum set the tone was in auctioning automobilia, or Road Art as Mecum likes to call it.

The Nashville sale will bring a huge assortment of neons tempered by a wealth of signs and traffic lights, and items from the Jack Roush Collection. There’s even a Dodge Viper V-10 engine coming on offer – everyone needs one of those. But, Mecum remains committed to car enthusiasts and collectors in any genre – exotic, classic, hot rod, foreign, domestic, and, of course, muscle… Mecum is bringing them around. Lot 449 - 2022 Harrington Junior Ferrari 365 Daytona Channel your inner “Miami Vice” with your very own black Ferrari Daytona Spyder replica – at half-scale. A hand-laid fiberglass body is placed upon a steel tubular chassis with an independent suspension and Brembo hydraulic disc brakes. Powered by a 125cc 4-stroke engine with an electric starter, 3 forward gears and a reverse transmission, the black body is contrasted with a red interior. 		Lot 443 - 2002 Jeff Burton Roush Racing Citgo NASCAR Hood Perfect for decorating the living room wall, this hood was used on Jeff Burton’s #99 car at the 2002 Sharpie 500, the 24th stock car race of the 2002 NASCAR Winston Cup Series and the 42nd iteration of the event. Held at Bristol Motor Speedway, the hood was attached to Jeff Burton’s #99 Ford 500, with which he would qualify at 121.682 MPH with a time of 15.769. Showing a wonderful blend of road rash and crunch experience, it retains its CITGO and SKF livery and is complete with a hood pin dangling from a wire. An absolutely magnificent piece of racing memorabilia, and while maybe hanging it in the living room might be a little optimistic, it definitely will start conversations anywhere.
		Lot 439 - IMSA Roush Racing JPS Trans-Am Mustang Hood The John Player Special (JPS) name needs no introduction in racing, and JPS #4 earned the nickname “Christine” by driver Scott Pruett for “her” notoriously well-known unforgiving, lightning-quick nature. Drivers often remarked that chassis 009 was a brutal Mustang to handle at the outer limits during the 1980s IMSA GTO and SCCA Trans-Am races. This is a hood from Christine, still sporting its black-and-gold color scheme.
		Lot 420 - Jack Roush Gas Pump Globe The decorative milk glass globe is adorned with the blue center ascribed “Jack Roush Performance Engineering,” and is set in a base. Presented in new condition, it is complete with the original packaging. A fabulous piece of hyper-rare, “where’d you get that” memorabilia, it’s something very unique for any collection.

Mecum On Time continues to grow with a multitude of collection currently on offer. While it’s easy to spend hours and hours poking around the various lots, of particular interest might be the Service Station Collectibles, Roush Automotive Collection Vol. 1 , and Fords of New York.

Some of our favorites are lot JW0064, a Double-Sided Porcelain Mobiloil sign, lot CA1010, a Packard Merlin V-1650 engine cylinder head from a P-51 Mustang that’s been converted into a table lamp, and lot CA0921, a 1948 Ford 8N Tractor – why this tractor out of all the others, we have no clue – we think it has something to do with the colors, condition, and shape. Straight up, it’s just flat-out cool.
