Kruse Auctions Ron Sutton Memorabilia Collection

Kruse Auctions Ron Sutton Memorabilia Collection

Yes, I know, short notice – my apologies.  That said – Kruse Auctions has generously offered to waive the bidder registration fee by using the promo code “GARAGESTYLE” a $150 savings.  Bid online, over the phone, or zip on out to Auburn, Indiana to enjoy the auction, the car show, the swap meet, and more this Labor Day Weekend.  The fun begins Wednesday, September 02.  Register here.

The Ron Sutton Lifetime Memorabilia Collection is a stunning amassment of unique, and varied collectibles, mostly from the Gas & Oil industry.  What I like about it is that it’s not all high-dollar items on offer – anyone just starting their collecting journey or sticking to a budget is going to find something that fits their goals.  Ron is an exceptionally astute collector who bought items that appealed to him for a variety of reasons, and they range from tin to neon to gas pumps to vintage attractions and games.  It’s a fun collection, but also serious – many of the restored gas pumps were restored inside and out.  Take a look at some of the items listed below, or just pop over to the Kruse Auctions website Memorabilia – Kruse Auctions and have a firsthand peek at what’s coming up.  And remember, register to bid here and ask for the complementary registration with the promo code “GARAGESTYLE”  Have fun, I’ll be bidding online hoping to bring home Lot 3004 because it’d look great over the entrance to my kitchen, and Lot 3027 and 3034 because I like stained glass… the big item for me though is Lot 3031, a Bob’s Big Boy statue – that’s a long story for another day.  Enjoy the free registration and enjoy the auction!

Lot 1131 - - Early, Round DSP Phillips Gasoline and Motor Oils Sign

Lot 1131 - Early, Round DSP Phillips Gasoline and Motor Oils Sign

Marked Veribright Sign-Chicago, this Double Sided Porcelain sign is an earlier example of Phillips Petroleum advertising. Showing some wear, the black sign is detailed with orange and white lettering in specialized fonts. Founded in 1917 by brothers Frank and L.E. Phillips in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Phillips Petroleum has a fascinating but often murky history that’s repeatedly tricky to trace. However, the company adopted the Phillips 66 branding in 1927 hot on the heels of the opening of Route 66. A test drive at 66 MPH was undertaken along Route 66 through a section of Oklahoma and in 1930, Phillips introduced the Phillips 66 brand on a sign in the shape of a US highway route marker. This sign is none of that, making it really interesting.
