I’ve long been a fan of fall. The cooling temperatures, the leaves, even the pumpkin spice flavored everything have always spelled a welcome finality to the year, a kind of reset. Things slow down a pinch. Major holidays are on the horizon and on a smaller scale, fireplaces become useful again, lending a warm glow to the room; hot cocoa with snickerdoodle cookies join cozy blankets and comfy couches and good movies on the TV. And, suddenly, garage projects seem more poignant, more accomplishable. Because of the heat, summer projects have always annoyed me, and as I get older that feeling seems more prevalent. Fall is for me. And, there’s no shortage of events, for the most part – Carlisle, Hershey, Goodguys, and so on all have major happenings, while the auction companies completely ensure good things happening. Morphy brings about their October Automobilia sale and that’s always fun. Cruising the catalogue, I see a ton of temptations, one of which is a little mind boggling, a 1932 Cadillac Imperial Limousine complete with a New York Certificate of Sale that shows Al Capone as the original purchaser through Rochelle Cadillac co. of New Rochelle.
