The Shelby Barn of Santa Cruz

The Shelby Barn of Santa Cruz

Barn finds are all the rage – who hasn’t fantasized about finding an old barn and stumbling upon a dream car from another era, dusty and forgotten and just waiting to be brought back to life?  In Santa Cruz, there is such a barn – kind of.  The barn truly is a fabulous barn, looking like it was built in the early 1900s, ready to keep the horses out of the weather.  But inside are horses of another breed, two 1966 Shelby Mustangs and a modern Ducati motorcycle.

The owner, a local chiropractor, has a 1965 Mustang fastback that he bought back in college and really appreciates the style of the early Mustangs, but adores the performance of the Shelby.  The ‘’65 is in yet another barn on the property and appears to be in very original shape, but that’s a story for another time.  The Shelby Barn has been decorated very sparingly with images and pictures of Shelby things and motorcycle things and family things, and all of them look like they’ve been there for decades, likely because they have.  But the two dusty Shelby fastbacks are intense.  Dreams do come true.
