Bonhams to Offer Oldest Daimler on the Road

The Bonhams Golden Age of Motoring Sale will take place in the company’s New Bond Street saleroom in London, England on November 4, just two days before the annual Veteran Car Run.  One of the cars coming up for bid is an 1897 Daimler Twin-Cylinder 4HP Tonneau, the second car made at Daimler’s Coventry factory.  Demonstrated to the then Prince of Wales, later Edward VIII, the Daimler’s first owner was Colonel Arthur Mulliner of the Mulliner coachbuilding family.  It was his cousin, Henry “H.J.” Mulliner, who created bespoke bodies for Rolls-Royce and Bentley.  A fascinating piece of motoring history, see the other spectacular vehicles coming on offer here Bonhams : The Golden Age Of Motoring
