Collectors of Stuff

Collectors of Stuff

Putting this issue together was fun – and a little problematic. Writing up the Mecum story, I had to look through some of their upcoming offerings and some items currently for bid at Mecum On Time, their online forum.  While it’s usually just fun, I found myself bidding on things I really don’t need.  Really.  I don’t need anything.  I’m in such a place with stuff, I don’t need to buy much of anything ever again.  All I need now are the things I actually need – which, according to the collector dna rooted in my system, I still need a lot.  Anyway, I hope you’ll join me in the fun, check out Mecum On Time and find a poster or something.

Supporting this notion of “fun in collecting,” I pulled an old article from Issue 40 of Garage Style Magazine, where we got to visit a man who’d been collecting diecast since the early 1960s.  A terrific tale, I think we can all relate to him.  Also, please enjoy a brief bit about the Concours at Copshaholm, a lovely event held at a spectacular venue, I hope you’ll swing over to their website and learn more, and more so, I hope you’ll plan to attend.  This event falls right in line with what I’ve been talking about for a couple of years, finding events that are maybe a little lesser known, but splendidly enjoyable.

Kept it short this week so you can all enjoy some time in the garage, solo or with others, polishing, fixing, inventing – whatever it is you do in that wonderful cocoon we call the garage.
