Our Never-ending Love of Stuff

Our Never-ending Love of Stuff

Mecum is at it again, teasing us with stuff aplenty, from gas pumps and coin-op kid rides to trinkets and other needful things we are helpless against. For most of us, automobilia and petroliana, or Road Art as Mecum calls it, is our kryptonite – get us near it, and we begin to tremble and we’re unable to control ourselves, our only hope, breaking out the credit card and buying the pieces for our very own! It’s the only way to combat it!

Take a look at what’s coming up below and see how long you can resist! I for one will definitely be bidding on those Corvette models – just what I need, more models… but they’re easier to park and less expensive than the real ones! Take a look, see ya at the bidding!

Burning rubber out of Dallas, Mecum’s Road Art® division is powering back to the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis for Mecum’s 2023 Fall Special, bringing an impressive assemblage of Road Art lots. A large selection of the pieces on offer hail from Schneider’s Garage Collection. Chuck Schneider is a resident and native of Michigan. Highlighting just some of what Schneider is bringing to the auction block and demonstrating the caliber of the items in his collection are a pair of original machines: one, a Gulf Erie Model 158 Gas Pump, and the other, a 1940s Rock-Ola Model 1428 Jukebox.

For those looking to get in touch with their inner child this fall in Indy, there’s also plenty of kiddie rides up for grabs. Among the numerous rides is a working Kawasaki Ninja Motorcycle Kiddie Ride in green, as well as three more from Schneider, including an original Thunderbolt Kiddie Ride, a L’Autopede Rocket Carnival Ride and original, working Mighty Mouse Kiddie Ride. Whether it’s for a nostalgic project or the Christmas gift that sparks joy in adults and kids alike, these kiddie rides are sure to capture the attention of enthusiasts in Indy.

Road Art offerings will cross the auction block prior to vehicles at the Fall Special, and options for in-person, telephone and internet bidding start at just $100, offering bidders the opportunity to get in on the auction action in whichever way suits them best. To register to bid for either or both auctions, visit Mecum.com.

Meanwhile, Mecum On Time is currently commemorating 75 years of NASCAR heritage with two special NASCAR-themed auctions. The Celebrating 75 Years of NASCAR Legends collection features a wide variety of models, posters and more honoring NASCAR and NHRA drivers like Richard Petty, Bill Elliott, Harry Gant, Davey Allison, Don Prudhomme, Tony Pedregon and more, all offering enthusiasts a chance to acquire a piece of racing heritage, preserving the heart-pounding moments and timeless feats of the sport’s most celebrated figures. On the flip side, the NASCAR Fine Art Collection promises an opportunity to own a piece of racing heritage in an entirely different form—a fusion of paint, passion and horsepower, tracing NASCAR’s evolution from dusty tracks to the grand arenas it graces today. Among the 41 lots on offer from the latter On Time auction are various paintings, drawings and photographs, some of which have even been signed by legendary drivers like Jeff Gordon and Rusty Wallace.

NEW: Corvette Model Kits & Promo Models Collection

In addition, three new auctions have been added to On Time’s schedule, with the Corvette Model Kits & Promo Models Collection live now at OnTime.Mecum.com and set to start closing at 2 p.m. on October 31. As its name would suggest, the collection features a wide array of the meticulously composed miniatures that were precision-crafted for dealerships throughout the 1950s, ‘60s and ‘70s to capture the essence of full-sized automobiles and help convince consumers and enthusiasts to take the first step toward acquiring their full-size counterparts.

Closes Oct. 31 – REGISTER TO BID
